MUMBAI: Two persons were arrested late on Monday in connection with the brutal murder of a 23-year-old man, Allaudin Chaudhary, at Aarey Colony.

The duo are Chaudhary's friends and admitted to killing him over a monetary dispute. Chaudhary's body was found near Unit 16 at Aarey Colony on Friday, with his throat slit and his face burnt severely.

His identity was established on Saturday after the Saki Naka police confirmed that he had been missing from their jurisdiction. The accused have been identified as Arshad Siddiqui, 28, and Radheshyam Verma, 21. "Siddiqui was on his way to Vasai when he had an accident at Mira Road. He fell off his bike and was injured, following which he was admitted to a hospital," said an official. While Verma was nabbed from Saki Naka, Siddiqui was arrested from the hospital in Mira Road.

Investigations revealed that Chaudhary had borrowed some money from the duo and had failed to return it. "The duo hatched a plot to kill Chaudhary. They also burnt his face so as to conceal his identity," the official said.

Verma has a past case of murder registered against him in Uttar Pradesh. "We are also probing whether the accused held a grudge against Chaudhary in connection with a relationship he was having with a girl," said another official. Chaudhary's father runs a scrap business and the deceased used to assist him in it.
