MUMBAI: A teenage biker and his pillion rider were killed after their motorcycle hit a car on the Western Express Highway at Bandra (East) early on Tuesday. According to the police, the biker was speeding in the wrong direction and the car driver was not at fault.

The Kherwadi police have registered a case against the biker. The deceased, Rohit Khatik (18) and Sebastian D'Mello (18), were college friends and lived at Bandra (West). Khatik was heading from Bandra towards Santa Cruz around 2.45am. There was nakabandi before the Vakola flyover and the policemen kept barricades on the road to act against speeding bikers.

Khatik stopped his bike suddenly on the road before the nakabandi, and then started to ride on the wrong direction. A doctor who was driving his car along with his family towards Santa Cruz was caught unawares when the speeding bike collided with his vehicle.

The car occupants sustained minor injuries. The cops rushed the teenager duo to a hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
