Bombay HC Chief Justice to speak at seminar on Women's day

MUMBAI: The Mumbai university law department has organised a one-day seminar on March 8 at the University campus where Chief Justice of the Bombay high court Mohit Shah, advocate general Darius Khambata, university vice chancellor Rajan Welukar, law department head prof Ashok Yende, former top cop D Shivanandan among a host of other lawyers and activists would discuss the new amendments to the criminal procedure code, the sexual harassment at Workplace (Prevention, prohibition and Redressal) Bill 2012 and compensation to rape victims and other issues concerning women as crimes against women has seen a rise.

The seminar that is being held on the International Women's Day would also see the Consul General of Sweden Fredrika Ornbrant speak during a session on 'punishment for crime against women'' with focus on death penalty.

The issue of the need to grade offences and rape within marriage which are in need of much debate will also be discussed said the Law Department which has organised the seminar.
