Govt raises grants for development of religious sites

MUMBAI: Rural development minister Jayant Patil said that the government has decided to raise grants for development of facilities at religious sites.

He informed that the grants for sites that fall in the "B" category (there are three categories for religious sites: A, B, and C) have been raised from Rs 1 crore to Rs 2 crore.

The funds are provided under the rural religious sites development scheme.

They are to be put to use for the development of various infrastructure facilities for devotees.
