Local elections to be held four times in a year

MUMBAI: Maharashtra state election commission chief J S Saharia said in an attempt to streamline the electoral process, elections to various local bodies such as gram panchayats, zilla parishads etc will be held four times in a year.
To achieve this, the state election commission would need to employ permanent staff. At a meeting with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, he said, the commission should be consulted while appointing such staff.
He said the commission was also working on computerisation of its workings to ensure transparency.
