Family pension to continue after remarriage

MUMBAI: In a major relief to widows of government servants, the state government has announced its decision to continue with the family pension even after remarriage.

As per the Maharashtra Citizen Services (Pension) Act, 1982, the pension is payable till the date of the government employee's death or the date of remarriage. Thereafter, it is not payable.
Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said the government would make necessary changes and issue an ordinance for the same.
