MUMBAI: The city police suspect that Govandi resident Sharif Khan, from whose house 2,173 active SIM cards and fake government documents including Aadhar and PAN cards were seized recently, was in touch with international terror suspects via a Facebook account.

A special investigating team and a cyber cell, which is trying to crack codes found on 24 pages of Khan's diary, have found that he created 25 email accounts and was operating at least three Facebook accounts. A scrutiny of his Facebook accounts revealed he was in touch with "friends" from Afghanistan, Israel, China, Myanmar, Denmark, Indonesia, Turkey and other countries. "During interrogation, he said he was fighting a war against Jihad. He says he hacks into email accounts and websites that spread terror. But when we asked him to show such accounts or websites, he couldn't," said an officer.

Another team of cops has started summoning those who had bought the SIM cards from Khan without submitting documents.
