A delegation led by Sardar Daljit Singh Bal, president of the association, and Sardar Iqbal Singh Matharu, general secretary, met Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray at Matoshree and expressed their whole-hearted support to the party.
Addressing the media, Sardar Daljit Singh Bal said, "For many years, the Sikhs with population of about 20 lakh scattered across Maharashtra have been the recipient of affection of the late Balasaheb Thackeray. Balasaheb ensured that no harm was done to any Sikh in Maharashtra in 1984. Uddhav is carrying forward the same caring attitude towards Sikhs. The Sikhs will always remain grateful to the Shiv Sena."The city has Sikh pockets scattered over Sion Koliwada, Matunga, Mahim, Chembur, Andheri, Bandra, Borivli, Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Bhandup, Mulund area and adjoining areas like Vashi, Thane, CBD Belapur.
"Our support to the Shiv Sena will not be just for name sake. Our volunteers-members in various cities across the state will go door to door and will take part in campaign for the party. Apart from this, Transport Trade in which Sikh community majors, will also go all out in extending its support to Sena as we believe that Shiv Sena is the only political party which genuinely understands and fights for the people cause and gets the things done," said Sardar Iqbaal Singh Matharu.
