C Vidyasagar Rao's string of interactions began on August 29, a day before he even took oath of office, with a meeting with Raj Bhavan bureaucrats led by Vikaschandra Rastogi. Since then he has discussed law and order with director general of police Sanjeev Dayal and Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria, and administration and key policy matters with chief secretary Swadheen Kshatriya.
In the last four days Rao has also met state advocate general Darius Khambata, state intelligence department head Rashmi Shukla, additional chief secretary (home) Amitabh Rajan, law secretary M A Sayeed, and bureaucrats of the energy and water conservation departments.
Among other of his visitors have been tribal development secretary Mukesh Khullar, former rural development secretary and now revenue secretary S S Sandhu, and water resources secretaries Eknath Patil and Malini Shankar. "The governor sought info on the new schemes undertaken by the rural development and irrigation departments," a senior bureaucrat said.
On September 3, Rao conducted a meeting with tribal development minister Madhukar Pichad and others on tribal affairs. This was in keeping with President Pranab Mukherjee's directives to governors to ensure that the schemes meant for tribals are implemented properly.
Amid all these meetings, Rao also received a "courtesy call" from MNS president Raj Thackeray.
