MUMBAI: Within a week after the induction of a minister, CM Prithviraj Chavan on Monday once again included two new faces to take the number of ministers in his cabinet to 42. The swearing-in ceremony was held in Rajbhawan at 9 am.

Amit Deshmukh, son of former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, and Abdul Sattar, close friend of former CM Ashok Chavan have been given cabinet and minister-of-state berths respectively.

The names which CM Prithviraj Chavan and state unit chief Manikrao Thakre had suggested were reportedly not cleared by the party high command. Chavan reportedly had plans to drop a few non-performing ministers which too was not allowed, said sources.

The reshuffle showed differences within the Congress leaders. Reshuffle is supposed to be aimed at strengthening party's prospects ahead of next coming assembly polls after the recent debacle in LS polls.
