Teti, who had been admitted to Sion Hospital after he complained of chest pain, was sent back to Arthur Road jail on Sunday. Vaid will be housed in Byculla's women's prison till May 23.
Under the new inquiry, the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) will examine the accused's bank accounts, pore over their cash purchases and real estate transactions during the last couple of years.
"Our investigation is on track. It is difficult to determine the exact number of cases that Teti and Vaid may be involved in," said an ACB official.
"However, we have started the disproportionate assets inquiry simultaneously with our investigation. If we find evidence, then another FIR will be registered later," he added.
ACB officials said they had not received any communication from the three-member panel constituted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to probe allegations of bribery.
The alleged racket was brought to light by sales tax inspector Vasant Utikar, who was trying to get his daughter, Mansi, enrolled at the Matunga college.
He said when he approached Vaid for admission under the management quota, she demanded Rs 50,000 and said no receipt would be given. After bargaining, the amount was brought down to Rs 30,000.
