NAVI MUMBAI: The police remain clueless about burglars who broke into the store room on the premises of Uran police station and took away Rs 28.5 lakh late on Thursday night. Special teams have been set up but the police do not have any leads yet. There was also no CCTV coverage of the room where the cash was kept.

In the absence of any strong-room facility in the satellite city, cash and valuables are continued to be stored there. On Sunday, there was no extra security at the store room. DCP (zone-2) Sanjay Singh Yenpure said, "There is no provision for a strong room at any police station in the city. The state needs to consider providing a treasury or strong-room. The store room from where the Rs 28.50 lakh cash was stolen is guarded by two constables. The room is unmanned after 6pm."
