Man gets 10-yr RI for raping minor sister-in-law

MUMBAI: A sessions court recently convicted a 23-year-old man for raping his minor sisterin-law. Additional sessions judge U S Joshi Phalke of the Dindoshi sessions court, sentenced the Sirajuddin Shaikh to 10 years' rigorous imprisonment. Shaikh's mother was acquitted of kidnapping charges.

Shaikh, a plumber, had married the 15-year-old girl's sister in Varanasi, UP, after which he moved to Mumbai. He soon began a relationship with the minor and eloped with her to Varanasi .
While the parents of the girl filed a missing complaint with the police, Shaikh returned to the city and began to live with her in 2012. Her parents found out her whereabouts and filed a rape case against Shaikh and he was arrested.
