MUMBAI: The TilakNagar police arrested a man late on Saturday for allegedly killing a 50-year-old security guard employed with an ice-cream manufacturing unit in Chembur. Victim AfzalAnsari (50) was employed with Azad Kulfi for the last two months on night duty.
On Friday midnight, Nehru Nagar resident Ansari was attacked on his head with iron rod and paver blocks before the accused Karan Kalbag (22) made away with Rs25,000 cash. The incident came to light on Saturday morning when the owner Dinesh Muske received call from one of his employees that he found Ansari's dead body wrapped with scrap material and garbage.
During the probe the police managed to track down the accused from his residence at PL Lokhande Marg with the help of an eye-witness who saw the accused fleeing the spot. "The accused after killing Ansari ransack the safe kept inside and robbed the money," said a police. Kalbag will be produced before the court on Sunday.
