Two sons killed stepfather over property dispute

MUMBAI: A history sheeter was reportedly killed by his two sons and second wife over money dispute on August 1. Victim Tulsiram Chavan (45) was bludgeoned when he fought with them for denying him taking the money they earned from house rents. Chavan's killing came to light on August 10 when his first wife lodged a missing complaint with the Sewri police two days after the incident and also complained that she suspect Chavan's second wife's hand in killing him.

Based on the information, the police arrested five people involved in the crime on Saturday. "The prime accused in the case is Chavanas two sons, Akash alias Iqbal (26) and Deepak alias Irfan (20) "who bludgeoned his head with paver blocks on seeing him fighting with their mother Renu (40). While the other two arrested are Akash's father-in-law and brother-in-law,"? said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Port Zone) Tanaji Ghadge.

During the probe the police came to know that Chavan owned 12 hutments at Sewri and use to collect the rent. After getting married to Renu few years ago, she and her two sons collected the money and denied giving the money to Chavan. "On August 1, Chavan demanded money from the accused to give to his first wife residing at Govandi. When Renu denied to give the money, Chavan fought with her. Seeing this Akash pushed the victim while Deepak first attacked him with paver block and later the two bludgeoned him,"? said Ghadge.

After killing Chavan, Akash called his brother-in-law and father-in-law from Andheri and asked to help him in dumping the body. "They took Chavan's body to an isolated railway track inside the BPT where they dumped his body and to destroy evidence by concealing it with concrete cement,"? said the Sewri police.

Neighbours got suspicion when they didn't see Chavan in the locality. One of them called Chavan's wife at Govandi and informed that he is suspected to have got killed. "When Jyoti failed to get details about Chavan approached the Sewri police. We suspected he is being killed when he didn't attend the court hearing on August 3. We kept a watch on the accused movement and finally on Saturday the two brothers were called for inquiry. They brokedown and confessed to have killed Chavan for money and property,?" said the police.

The five have been booked for murder and destorying evidence.
