Mumbai BJP president demands investigations in roads and drain cleaning contracts

MUMBAI: Mumbai BJP president, Ashish Shelar has demanded a special investigation team (SIT) inquiry into the roads and drain desilting works carried out by the civic body.

The pothole filling and nullah cleaning works from the civic body have often been mired in controversy with people often describing them substandard.

TOI has also reported that the desilting was not done properly.

There has also been criticism of the ruling Sena-BJP alliance for its failure to ensure effective works.

Though Shelar attacked the civic administration, he defended Sena-BJP on this issue. "The civic standing committee immediately clears the proposals regarding public welfare, however there has been unpardonable delay on the part of civic officials in their implementation," he said.

He also said that he would stage an agitation if his demands are not met by the civic body.

Shelar, who is also an MLC, also made a direct attack on additional municipal commissioner Aseem Gupta for the pathetic condition of roads in the city.
