Maharashtra bandh by traders on July 15-16 to oppose Local Body Tax

MUMBAI: The wholesalers and retailers under the Federations of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) have decided to observed a statewide bandh on July 15 and 16 to protest the Local Body Tax ( LBT) implemented by the government.

The bandh will coincide with the start of the monsoon session of Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly in Mumbai from July 15.

"We have sent a circular in this regard to all the members. We hereby request the members to mobilise popular support and pull all their might to make Maharashtra Bandh on these two days successful as a show of our unity by persuading members of the trade to voluntarily join the bandh.Let the state know that it cannot take us for granted to thrust upon us draconian law that will bring back harassment and corruption,'' said the president of FAM, Mohan Gurnani.
