MUMBAI: In coming days Maharashtra may witness war of words between political parties over naming of eastern free way. While NCP has demanded that eastern free way be named after dalit icon B R Ambedkar, the Raj Thackeray led MNS demanded that ruling DF government should name the free way after Balasaheb Thackeray. But contradicting the NCP and the MNS demand a section of political activists from the city have demanded that the free way should be named after the jawans from Maharashtra who lost their lives during Uttarakhand rescue operation.

"The ruling DF government will take ample of time before taking any decision on the issue. With less than a year for general elections, the Congress-NCP alliance will not make any move that will affect the voting," a senior Mantralaya official said.

Meanwhile the MNS demand to name flyover after Balasaheb Thackeray is seen as an opportunity by many Shiv Sena-BJP leaders to bring the Raj Thackeray on saffron alliance board ahead of the 2014 parliamentary elections. Following differences with cousin Uddhav, Raj left Sena and floated a new political party called MNS in 2006.
