But Paes' counsel claimed, "Pillai was trying to gain sympathy, create controversy and stop his parents from staying in the house."
Pillai visited the Bandra police station on Thursday night with a complaint but a case was yet to be registered till late.
Paes has recently filed a petition in a family court seeking custody of their six-year-old daughter Aiyana.
According to Pillai's friends, she had stepped out of the Carter Road apartment with Aiyana to attend actress Rani Mukherjee's niece's birthday bash.
"When she returned around 7.30pm, Paes wouldn't let her in. She did not have an extra set of house keys. Paes had posted five goons outside the flat who abused and threatened her constantly. Pillai then called the police emergency helpline '103' and a woman constable was sent. As soon as Paes saw the constable, he let Pillai in. But the goons continued to abuse her. Fortunately, Aiyana was still at the birthday bash and was not witness to the goings-on," the friend said, adding that when Pillai finally entered the flat, she found all her belongings packed up.
A source close to Pillai said, "A powerful star wife sent her security guards to Pillai's rescue. Aiyana has been sent to a friend's flat for sometime."
Paes' counsel, Zulfikar Memon, MZM Legal, pointed out that the house belonged to Paes. "He had instructed his staff to prepare the guestroom where his parents normally stay when they visit. Rhea had placed some of her artifacts (in the guestroom). This guestroom is different from the room that Rhea has been using as her bedroom," Memon said.
