Shiv Sena, MNS supporters clash outside city collector office

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena supporters clashed outside the city collector's office at Old Customs House on Shahid Bhagat Singh road.

Arvind Sawant, the Shiv Sena candidate from south Mumbai and Aditya Shirodkar, MNS candidate from south-central Mumbai had come to file their nominations.

When supporters of the two parties came face to face first they started shouting loud slogans and then started throwing party flags at each other. This situation soon deteriorated to stone-throwing and the police had to resort to lathicharge as supporters of the two sides tried to barge into the collector's office.

Chaos continues at the old collector's office as supporters of the two parties continue to remain aggressive.
