Medha Patkar, Poonam Mahajan file nominations

MUMBAI: Activist and Lok Sabha candidate Medha Patkar started on a padyatra from outside the Mulund Station West along with supporters armed with the Aam Aadmi Party symbol the jhaadu as they made their way to the collector's office at Mulund East.

Patkar is contesting from Mumbai North-East against sitting NCP MP Sanjay Dina Patil and BJP candidate Kirit Somaiya.

The procession slowly moved through the crowded areas outside Mulund station and after two hours reached the collector's office.

BJP candidate from north-central Mumbai Poonam Mahajan filed her nomination papers at the Bandra collector's office. Her brother Rahul Mahajan tweeted that it was a big day for his sister.
