Although growth is imperative, president CII stressed that it must be responsible and sustainable. Environment and ecological footprints need reconsideration and serious thinking in every sphere of our activity. He added that for sustainability, we need to innovate and remodel the process of growth and development. He believes that these initiatives will go a long way in helping India lead. He said that the 21st century model of development must work towards an equitable India.
Gopalakrishnan said that today's youth proves that inspiration is no longer dependent on age, economic background and education. He said that the emergence of a new political party at the centre is also an inspiration. He also cited examples of recent startups like Flipkart and Whatsapp as inspirational. He concluded by saying that India needs to grow fast and achieve a developed country's status and this possible only when the youth leads the transformation process.
Devdutt Pattanaik, author, speaker, illustrator and mythologist, spoke of the various interesting linkages between Indian mythological symbolisms and our lives today. He spoke of the striking similarity of the Indian ritual `Yagya' to the entire business process that involves investor, investment, investee and return on investment.
