Two new AC bus routes for Pune launched

MUMBAI: The MSRTC launched its direct AC bus service from Vashi to Pune and from Panvel to Pune on Saturday.

"We expect a good response on these routes and depending on demand, we will increase the frequency of buses and also ply them on weekdays,'' said a MSRTC spokesperson. He said that at present, the buses will run only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

The first route from Vashi to Swargate (Pune) will have stops at Nerul and Kharghar among few other halts in Navi Mumbai. The bus leaves Vashi at 8 am and covers a distance of 130 kms in two and a half hours. It reaches Swargate in Pune at 10.30 am. The fare for this route is Rs 259.

The return bus will be available from Swargate to Dadar via Vashi and will leave Swargate at 11 am, reaching Dadar at 2.25 pm. The fare on this route will be Rs 292.

The second bus will leave Panvel at 3.50 pm and reach Swargate in Pune at 5.45 pm. The fare will be Rs 216. The return from Swargate will be at 6.15 pm and the bus will go via Panvel and reach Dadar at 9.30 pm.

The MSRTC had recently conducted a survey of commuters in Navi Mumbai area. It was found that a large number of passengers from Vashi, Nerul and Panvel preferred heading for Pune during the weekends and on holidays.
