Nirmal Borha (38), a resident of Tirupati Plaze, Balaji Nagar in Bhayander (west) owns the Sudarshan Jewellers showroom in the area. On Monday, at around 10.40 pm, Borha was returning home from Mumbai. Two men snatched his bag and began running. Borha raised an alarm which alerted the public. They nabbed the two and handed them over to the Bhayander police station.
At the police stations their names were revealed as Sunil Prajapati and Himmat Prajapati. While Sunil had snatched the bag, Himmant was accompanying him. Both had masked their faces. Borha was surprised as Himmat was employed in his showroom and had been working with him since a few years.
On Monday afternoon, Borha had travelled to Zaveri Bazar in Mumbai to pick up gold ornaments for his customers. Himmat knew that Borha would return to his home by night. The two parked themselves at a secluded place in Balaji Nagar.
Borha told the police that he had kept the valuables in his pocket and the bag contained nothing of significance. The police recovered sharp weapons from the two.
The accused told the police that they needed cash and Himmat knew that Borha was bringing gold ornaments to the tune of several lakhs. The two have been remanded to police custody.
