Mumbai: The Marine Drive police arrested 10 bikers for rash driving. Most of the youth in their early twenties were racing bikes on the Marine Drive stretch. All the south Mumbai police stations were directed to keep a tab on bikers and nab them to avoid accidents.
The arrested youth are college students and resided in Sion Koliwada area. "During nakabandis a police team spotted the youth racing. We saw 10 bikers speeding towards one of the barricades around 4.30 am. One of the bikers was riding at such high speed that he rammed into BL Pawar, police inspector from Marine Drive police station who was on duty," said a police officer.
All the bikers were stopped by various police teams, brought to the police station and arrested. They were booked for rash driving and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of other. "The bikers were bailed out from the police station itself but police seized their driving licenses and are planning to request the RTO to cancel their licenses," said the officer.
