According to the Bhayander police, Shyamal Atta (46) had taken the cash on loan a few months ago from Sanjay Sheth (52). On March 2, Sheth along with two men approached Atta at his Bhayander (west) home. They demanded the cash but Atta was unable to repay the money. The men forcibly took away Atta even as his family members objected. They put him in an auto rickshaw and travelled upto Maxus Mall in Bhayander (west).
At the mall, they again asked Atta to repay the cash. When Atta said that he was not in a position to return the money anytime soon, they put him in a taxi and took him to Sheth's home in Bhuleshwar in south Mumbai
On March 4, Atta's wife Seema registered a kidnapping case with the police. In her complaint, she stated that she was unable to make calls to her husband . She told the police that her husband was kept captive at Sheth's home. The police along with Seema went to Sheth's house and found Atta kept in captive. He was rescued and Sheth was booked by the police. Sheth's two accomplics are absconding. Atta told the police that he was beaten up Sheth.
