NAVI MUMBAI: Five days after an 8-year-old girl, Gauri Devghare, was injured in a hit-and-run accident in Karjat, the driver of the car (MH-05, BL-3935) which had knocked her down was arrested late on Sunday. The accused has been identified only as Johnson (30), a Kalyan resident, said deputy superintendent of police Shaligram Patil. He was being interrogated till the time of going to press.
The girl, who was declared 'brain dead', died on Saturday.
The police will verify the driver's cellphone records to verify his location at the accident spot.
