MUMBAI: A peon with the Indian Army's Central Ordnance Depot was arrested on Friday for allegedly assaulting a shop owner and touching his wife inappropriately, on Sunday.
The accused, Hirabhai Chawda (34), has been sent to judicial custody. A manhunt has been launched for his associates.
Chawda had a tiff with shop owner Manoj Gupta's wife. When Gupta intervened, Chawda got into a scuffle with him. "Later, he returned with over a dozen others and attacked me and behaved inappropriately with my wife," Gupta told TOI.
Despite Gupta stating that the accused were from the army and he had seen them frequently, the police took no action till Friday. TNN
