School authorities claim that the four classrooms were built over three decades ago and they had only concretized it. "Four classrooms in the primary section were built in 1972 but were not concrete structures hence were in very poor condition. So we concretized them during the summer vacations in May. We were also adding a loft but the BMC asked us not to do it and we stopped work," said Shivling Vatkar, chairman, Sant Kakkaya Vikas Sanstha, which runs the school.
"The BMC had seen all our papers and we thought it was the end of the problem. Students have been occupying the classrooms since school reopened in June. On Thursday, we received a call from neighbours that the BMC officials had come to demolish the classrooms," said Vatkar. The school is currently shut for Diwali vacation. BMC authorities were unavailable for comment.
