MUMBAI: Over two weeks after it decided to withdraw the review petition challenging the Supreme Court's decision on private forest land that was delivered in January, the state government is yet to instruct its lawyers to do so.

State revenue and forest department officials said the opinion of the solicitor general, informing that the Supreme Court is unlikely to reverse its order, had been forwarded to the state law and judiciary department. However, officials from the law and judiciary department said that they were yet to receive the file from the revenue and forest department.

For us, it is only a matter of forwarding it to Delhi, but we cannot do it unless we receive it," said an official from the law and judiciary department.

P Padikkal of Hillside Residents Welfare Association said the state had been dilly-dallying deleting forest department's name from the records.
