‘Gangster’ warns NCP man not to fight polls

ULHASNAGAR: NCP leader Omie Kalani, son of Ulhasnagar strongman Pappu Kalani, allegedly received a call from gangster Ravi Pujari threatening him not to contest the assembly polls against BJP's Kumar Ailani.

Claiming it to be baseless allegations, Ailani demanded that the Thane police must find out who made the call and at whose behest.

Omie on Tuesday lodged the complaint at the Central police station, saying a person, identifying himself as Pujari, called up on his election campaigning number around 12.30am. "He abused me and told me not to fight the polls. He even threatened to kill me if I didn't listen," Omie told TOI . But Ailani claims that since the BJP has become powerful in Ulhasnagar city, Omie is scared he might be defeated and so cooking up the story.

Cops said they were probing if someone posed as Pujari.
