MUMBAI: Most schools in the city have not received any applications for the third round of online admissions for the 25% seats reserved under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

The BMC announced a third round of the online admissions for the 6,392 vacant seats and is accepting applications till August 22. But the word does not seem to have reached the parents. "We were informed that a third round will be conducted but parents have yet not approached us," said Suma Das, principal, Pawar Public School, Bhandup. "We will advertise through posters on the notice board and buses," she added.

The situation is similar at several schools such as Nalanda Public School, Mulund and St Joseph School, Borivli. The BMC is being blamed for not advertising enough. But a BMC official said the civic body is in the process publishing advertisements in newspapers and the deadline may be extended.
