MUMBAI: The MSRTC plans to launch a new website, which will be user friendly, interactive and make web-ticketing easier and faster.

"We have seen a few flaws in the existing website and taken corrective steps. We will also ensure that the e-ticketing facility is enhanced so that you have to spend less time to get a confirmed bus ticket. The new screens on the website are also being made attractive," MSRTC managing director Sanjay Khandare, said.

Khandare further stated that his focus will also be on bus design, punctuality (of buses) and computerization. "We are adhering to stringent passenger safety norms and will be redesigning all our buses to provide better seating facilities, bigger windows and more safety features for commuters,'' he stated.

Commenting on accidents, he said that there has been a drop in number of fatal mishaps. "But we are serious about introducing compulsary eye and health checks for drivers annually, conduct automated driving tests for those who are involved in five or more mishaps and to take serious action against those who are not fit for driving our buses,'' he pointed out.

The MSRTC has a simulator in Mumbai for driving tests and an automated track in Pune. His other focus areas would be revamping the bus stations, ensuring cleaner toilets and power-saving devices in offices and depots.
