Cidco board to discuss Ajit Pawar’s proposal on Sion-Panvel toll

Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's proposal to solve the toll issue on the Sion-Panvel highway will be tabled before the Cidco board, its chairman Pramod Hindu Rao said on Tuesday.

"My party leader and the deputy CM has made a statement that a payment can be made for cost incurred on upgrading and modernizing the highway. Cidco can afford to make the payment, with MMRDA also paying Rs 200 crore of the total Rs 1,220 crore.'' A part of the area is under MMRDA. "The issue will be tabled before the board for discussion andI am sure it will take a favourable decision,'' Rao said.

Cidco's public relations officer said the meeting will be held after managing director Sanjay Bhatia returns from leave on July 20. The 11-member board includes Rao, Bhatia, joint MD V Radha, MMRDA commissioner, Konkan divisional commissioner, NMMC commissioner, and the JNPT chairman among others.
