Jolly LLB director arrested in molestation case

MUMBAI: The Versova police arrested Subhash Kapoor, director of film Jolly LLB, in a molestation case of an actor on Monday. The police produced Kapoor before a court and the court released him on bail.

Last week, the National Commission for Women (NCW) requested the police commissioner Rakesh Maria to take action in the case.

The actor had filed a complaint at Versova police station in February, two years after the alleged molestation incident. She accused that Kapoor tried to rape her. There was a video where she was seen slapping Kapoor after reminding him about the incident.

The police had booked Kapoor under the Indian Penal Code sections 354 (outraging a woman's modesty).

"We examine the collected evidences and accordingly arrested Kapoor in the case," said an officer.

The video captured, Kapoor and his wife, another film director along with the victim.

They were in the midst of a confrontation. Kapoor said in the video that he was ashamed of what happened between the two, and was ready to face the consequences of his actions. The video showed that the victim slapped him before leaving the room.
