Asangaon commuters find reservation centres shut, block local trains

KALYAN: Asangaon commuters block local trains for more than one hour after finding the long-distance reservation booking counters at the station shut perpetually. The rail roko at both up and down line led to delay of local services between Kasara and Karjat by more than 30 minutes while between Kalyan and CST by 10 to 15 minutes.

The incident took place at around 9.30 am on Thursday, when commuters at Aasangaon railway station found reservation centre is shut down. Angry commuters gather on railway station and halted both up and down line local train which went up to 11.15 am till reservation counter not started.

Railway officials from Aasangaon railway station do not wished to be named said that protest went up to more than one hour hitting both line services between Kalyan and Kasara line.

Rajesh Ghanghav, Advisor of Kalyan-Kasara railway Passenger welfare association said, "The senior railway officials in Mumbai do not taking care of maintenance services beyond Kalyan and Kasara area due to which signal failure, rail fracture and other incidents has became normal practices here. This was reason upset over daily problems angry locals protested".
"There is need of senior railway officials to keep proper watch on maintenance work in the area to avoid such incidents in future" added Ghanghav.
