Bhende complained of uneasiness and was being taken to the hospital at around 11am from his Santacruz residence when he breathed his last, informed a relative.
He was credited to have brought rock culture in Marathi music industry in the 70s. His album 'Disco Vavtal' with Manik Varma's daughter Rani was widely popular in the eighties.
He is survived by his wife, two children and father. He will be cremated at the Dadar crematorium today.
