Robin Karkee was stabbed on the left side of the abdomen on Monday evening by the accused Zubin Cooper (28).
Cooper whose marriage proposal was turned down by a 25-year-old woman from Robin's building tried to stab her. Robin who happened to be in the building lobby intervened and got assaulted. The woman sustained stab wounds on her left hand.
Cooper who fled from the spot is still absconding. Robin who was admitted to a private hospital had a surprise visitor in the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) commissioner Suresh Kakani who felicitated the class 10th student for his act of bravery.
Cooper who was unemployed was known to the victim for two years. They worked together in a call centre. Cooper had proposed marriage to the woman, who rejected his offer. Cooper has been charged under section 326 (causing grievious hurt) of the IPC by the Navghar police.
The woman is out of danger and discharged from hospital.
