MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Monday told Bombay HC that though a proposal had been sent to the Centre for presenting gallantry awards to police officials and members of bomb disposal squads for fighting terrorists during the 26/11 attacks, it had rejected the names.

This was revealed in a letter written by G C Yadav, under secretary to the Union government in the ministry of home affairs, to the state home ministry on November 12, 2013.

A copy of this letter was placed by Aruna Pai before a bench, which adjourned for two weeks a PIL demanding 'Ashok Chakra' and gallantry awards for all officers who fought during the Mumbai terror attacks.
