The work to install a chiller unit in the central AC plant will begin from Saturday, 21st December 2013and will be completed by Monday, 23rd December.
For these three days air conditioning facility will not be available in most of the operation theatres, Intensive Care Units & Laboratories of the hospital.
Civic officials have said that emergency patients and surgeries will be transferred to the Nair, Sion and JJ hospital.
KEM hospital has been always facing the problem of AC units malfunctioning on several occasions, while the BMC officials managed to repair it temporary, for a long term relief the unit needed to be installed again.
Doctors say that they have been delaying this work as the number of patients needing surgeries were high all rounder the year, this is the time when the patients can be managed by other hospitals
