KEM hospital case: ‘Technician not guilty of sexual harassment’

MUMBAI: A 57-year-old technician from KEM Hospital's biochemistry department has been absolved of sexual harassment charges levelled against him by 12 women colleagues. But the panel investigating the allegations clarified that though not sexual, there was some amount of harassment involved.

The hospital's panel submitted its report to dean Dr Shubhangi Parkar on Thursday.

Ashok Bhokare's colleagues had alleged that he had clicked their pictures without their knowledge or consent. They lodged a complaint after he allegedly started making comments with innuendoes. Bhokare was transferred to the pathology department from biochemistry.

A senior hospital official told TOI that Bhokare was not found guilty of sexual harassment. "But there is some harassment though not sexual. He will continue to be in pathology department," said the official.

Bhokare could not be contacted on Thursday.
