NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: India has discussed the molestation case allegedly involving a Bahraini diplomat in Mumbai with his government, which has assured it will look into his conduct after he returns to the country once his tenure is over.

The diplomat, Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Khaja, was booked in Mumbai earlier this week for allegedly molesting the woman manager of his housing society but was not arrested due to the diplomatic immunity enjoyed by him.

Sources said the matter was referred by the external affairs ministry, which discussed the case with Bahraini authorities keeping in view the immunity to consular officials under the Vienna Convention. Bahrain said it would look into the conduct of the diplomat.

The 49-year-old manager of Silver Arch, a 24-storey building at Nepean Sea road, had complained against Khaja, saying he had created ruckus after a building lift was shut for repairs and even ransacked her office and pushed her. "This was the third incident of such misbehaviour by Khaja," the complainant said. Khaja has been booked for molestation, word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace of the IPC.
