Kalyan/MUMBAI: A 28-year-old man, with 27 cases of robberies registered against him and who had managed to give a slip to two cops escorting him to Nashik jail, was nabbed from his Girgaum home on Thursday.

The accused, Tausif Khan, had jumped off the Panchvati Express near Thakurli station, said the V P Road police.

Constables Naik and Pokle had escorted Khan to a court for a hearing and were taking him back to the jail. "On the train, Khan told the cops he wanted to go to toilet. Naik accompanied the accused to the toilet, but when they reached the train door, Khan pushed him and jumped out," said Kalyan railway police sub-inspector N B Vaze. Naik alerted Pokle and the duo too jumped off the train, but in vain. On reaching Kalyan, the cops lodged a complaint and alerted all police stations in Thane and Mumbai.
