4 staffers of electronics store held for theft

MUMBAI: Four employees of an electronics store at Kandivli (W) have been arrested for misappropriating consumer durables from the shop and selling them off to customers.

The accused worked at Alpha Electronics, located at Laljipada in Kandivli. The store is owned by Salim Ansari.

"Ansari trusted the accused as they had been working with him for the past few years. But they gradually started selling LCD television sets, washing machines, DVD players to people at throwaway prices, without issuing any receipts. They indulged in such acts whenever Ansari was away," said a police officer. As the stock in the store began to deplete gradually, an old hand complained to Ansari. When Ansari questioned the accused, they gave him evasive replies. They also stopped coming to work.

"We have arrested the accused and recovered goods worth Rs 2.89 lakh, " the officer added.
