MUMBAI: Despite the Bombay high court ban, the Mira-Bhayander region is full of illegal banners and hoardings this Ganesh Chaturthi festival.

The Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) had warned mandals against erecting hoardings along the immersion routes. The huge hoardings make it difficult for the movement of vehicles carrying huge Ganesh idols. The MBMC had also warned penal action against mandals erecting huge hoardings and advertisements on the roads.

With the final immersion day on Wednesday, the MBMC has not taken action or pulled down any of the hoardings that can come in the way of immersion procession. A large number of illegal banners, including those put up by political parties and advertisers have come up on busy streets and tree tops. The municipality has not pulled down any hoardings and banners since the festival began on September 9. Pandals with huge Ganesh idols have expressed fears of difficulty in movement due to hoardings.

The Bombay high court had banned illegal hoardings and banners. The MBMC too was pulled up by the court for not taking action against the illegal banners and hoardings.
