MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Tuesday took a review of Mumbai municipal corporation's efforts to curb water contaminating being reported from various parts of the city.
Guardian minister of Island City Jayant Patil called a meeting of the municipal officials demanding to know what efforts were being taken by the government to bring down contamination, especially in South Mumbai.
"We just appraised of the efforts we are taking in curbing contamination," said a senior BMC officials.
South Mumbai has maximum reported cases of water contamination since the pipelines in the area are over a 100-year old and often break down leading to seepage. The sewage water often creeps in the water pipelines which are rusted and leaking at most time in the Island City.
