Governor assures relief for drought affected areas

MUMBAI: Governor of Maharashtra K Sankaranarayanan on Wednesday assured that drought affected people of complete help from the ruling DF government. After the Maharashtra Day celebration, release issued by Governor's office stated that temporary ration cards would be provided to all those who have migrated from the parched areas of the state. "The state government has received financial assistance received from government of India. The Maharashtra government is taking all the measures to tackle the crisis," the release said.

Governor further speaking during the celebration day stated that the ruling DF government is committed to set up a Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's memorial of international standards in Mumbai.

Also protocol minister Suresh Shetty along with other dignitaries paid tribute to Hutatma chowk. The chowk is named in memory of the members of Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti who lost their lives while fighting for creation of Maharashtra state.
