MUMBAI: Ehtesham Siddiqui, an accused in the 7/11 train bomb blast case who is facing serious charges and languishing in jail for over six years, successfully passed diploma in human rights from the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

Siddiqui is an accused in the 7/11 serial train blasts. He was arrested by ATS for his alleged role in hatching conspiracy of the blast which occurred in 2006, in which 188 persons lost their lives in explosion while 816 were injuried.

Muslim NGO Jamiat Ulama-E-Maharashtra, which is offering free legal aid to the Muslim youths arrested on charges of terrorism, said that Siddiqui had completed his six months correspondent diploma course in human rights from within the jail and his exam was conducted in Arthur road jail.

As per IGNOU policy, it doesn't charge any fee from under trial prisoners and university staff members create exam hall atmosphere in prison itself.

Beside Siddiqui, Dr Sharif, an accused in Aurangabad arms haul case, has taken admission in three year law degree course (LLB) through distance education and he has till now completed second year.
