MUMBAI: A day after his suspension, WR has also cancelled the allotment of the quarters in which BabulalNarayandasVerma, an area manager of Western Railway, allegedly conducted the flesh trade. A senior WR official said, "We are also going to issue a major penalty charge sheet to Verma that will eventually lead to his dismissal from the service. Moreover, instructions have been issued to Railway Protection Force official to maintain vigil to find out any suspicious activity in any of the railway quarters in Mumbai."
Babulal Narayandas Verma, an area manager of Western Railway, arrested for allegedly running a prostitution racket from his railway quarters came in touch with the victims in pubs in the city. A diary seized from him contained 18 contact numbers. The police suspect that the numbers could be of the victims.
The SS Branch had raided Verma's railway quarters at Marine Lines on Saturday and arrested him. The case was transferred to the LT marg police on Monday. Police said that Verma, 55, had a habit to visit bars and pubs on a regular basis from where he got in touch with the four victims who were rescued by the social service branch on Saturday night. Three victims, who were above 18 were sent to the Women Shelter Home in Govandi, while a minor was sent to Children's Home in Dongri. The police have also seized Rs1.09 lakh, a celllphone, identity card etc. Verma was arrested under Immoral Trafficking (Prevention) Act and sent to police custody till March 16.
