Afzal Guru hanged: Mumbai on high alert

MUMBAI: A day after hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, security personnel kept vital installations in the city on high alert on Sunday. The Mumbai airport was put on high alert after the news of Afzal's hanging. Extra barricades were put outside the airport and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawans were stationed outside the airport.

The CISF jawans were checking all the vehicles that were dropping in flyers at the airport and the vehicles were allowed to come in the complex after only a proper scrutiny. The vehicles were not allowed to stand outside the airport for more than two to three minutes. The bomb squad and the dog squad too have been put on high alert, according to the home department officials.

Afzal was hanged on Saturday morning at 8am for being involved in the Parliament attack on December 13, 2001.
